Wisconsin Driver Education Grant

How to apply for the Wisconsin Driver’s Ed Grant (step‑by‑step)

If your teen qualifies for free or reduced‑price lunch, the Wisconsin Driver Education Grant can cover 100% of driver education tuition at Easy Method Driving School. This guide shows you what to do on grant day, what to have ready, and how to use your coupon codes once you are approved.

For complete program details and eligibility, see the main Wisconsin Driver Education Grant page.

Before the grant opens

Step 1: Confirm eligibility & gather information

The grant is for Wisconsin teens ages 14½–19 who qualify for free or reduced‑price lunch and have never held a driver license. Before grant day, take a few minutes to confirm your teen is eligible and gather the details you will need for the online application.

  • Student’s full legal name (exactly as it appears on school records).
  • Date of birth and Wisconsin home address.
  • School name and district.
  • Confirmation that your teen qualifies for free or reduced‑price lunch.
  • Parent/guardian contact email that you check regularly.

You can review current eligibility language and the official application link on the WisDOT Driver Education Grant Program page.

Why preparation matters

Grant funding is first‑come, first‑served and can run out quickly once the round opens. Having everything ready before 9:00 a.m. makes it easier to submit your application as soon as the state system opens.

On grant day

Step 2: Apply online when the round opens

The grant round currently opens on April 13, 2026 at 9:00 a.m., and funds are limited. Plan to submit your teen’s application as early as possible once the system opens.

  1. Before 9:00 a.m., open the official WisDOT grant page in a browser tab.
  2. When the round opens, start the application and enter your teen’s information carefully.
  3. Double‑check spelling, date of birth, and email address before you submit.

The online form is hosted by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. You are applying directly with the state; Easy Method is the driving school that will provide the driver education once your teen is approved.

Important reminders

  • Apply before enrolling in any driver education program — enrolling first can make a student ineligible for the grant.
  • Use an email address you can access immediately; approvals and coupon codes are sent by email.
  • If the system is busy, be patient and avoid repeatedly refreshing mid‑form.
After you apply

Step 3: Watch for your confirmation email and coupon codes

After you submit the application, WisDOT will review it and send you a confirmation email. If your teen is approved, the email will include coupon codes that you will use with Easy Method Driver School.

  • Look for an email from the Wisconsin DMV or WisDOT — check spam or junk folders if you do not see it.
  • Approved students typically receive two coupon codes: one for classroom and one for behind‑the‑wheel training.
  • Save the email and codes in a place you can easily find again.

If the application is not approved, the state’s email should explain why. In some cases, families may be able to correct an issue and reapply in a future round.

Coupon expiration

Grant coupon codes expire 9 months after the date of issue. Once you receive your codes, contact Easy Method promptly so your teen can enroll and begin class while the grant is still active.

Redeeming your grant

Step 4: Share your codes with Easy Method & enroll

Once you have your teen’s coupon codes, you are ready to connect with Easy Method Driving School and enroll in a grant‑eligible teen program.

  1. Have your teen’s full legal name and both coupon codes ready.
  2. Visit the grant enrollment page or call Easy Method at (414) 447‑0202.
  3. Provide the coupon codes and confirm your preferred class format (online or hybrid, when available).
  4. Follow the instructions from Easy Method to complete any remaining enrollment steps.

Easy Method will enter your coupon codes into our student records and the Wisconsin DMV will send grant payments directly to the school — you do not pay tuition for the covered program.
